One of our suppliers for phone parts put together a fantasy draft for the best parts across all phones. All told, I'd say they did pretty well with their selections.
Digital Doc Des Moines is a new kind of phone repair store. We've created a family-friendly environment for your family's electronic repair needs.

The smartphone drop test results are in and the winner is...
As smartphones get thinner and sleeker in design (slicker?), here is something to consider. Will your phone survive dropping it on a concrete or tile floor? All popular makes and models have been tests and the ranking (from most durable to least durable) is:
the earlier models play out in similar rankings. The HTC One M7, M8, and M9 are all built like tanks so their #1 ranking doesn't surprise me.
Thinking about that Galaxy S6? The outer cover is so sleek it will slide off anything you put it on unless it is exactly level. It looks so awesome but, sadly, the first think you should do it put it in a case that has some absorbing power and provides surface resistance.
And if you do break your phone, we repair all makes and models shown here (and a lot more). It's much cheaper to repair your phone vs. insurance. Get your phone fixed at Digital Doc Des Moines today!

You don't need phone insurance any more.
There is a very high likelihood that we can fix your phone for about 1/2 the cost of phone insurance. Next time you buy a new phone, decline the insurance and stop by our store for all your repair needs. In addition, you'll get to deal with adults and not a 23 year old hipster trying to make commission. Stop by Digital Doc Des Moines and feel the difference.

Iowans
Now that the corn is as high as an elephant's eye, it's time to talk about something important. People in Iowa are hard working. They aren't looking for gimmicks or fast sales pitches. Yesterday, a customer thanked me for our customer referral program but said "that's not why I'll send people to you." I asked her why. She replied "I'll send them because I like to refer my friends to good people and you are." Thank you.

upgrading your iPhone 6 to the new iOS 8.4 is NOT a given
We've had several customers in the store holding their iPhone 6 that, at this point, is nothing more than an expensive coaster. (technical term is "bricking the phone") Why? They tried upgrading to the new iOS version 8.4 and it totally ruined their phone. I don't mean quirky things like battery power or slowness. I mean the phone is completely shut down and won't take a charge.
Here's an article about some of the more common problems with the new software upgrade:
http://www.gottabemobile.com/2015/07/02/ios-8-4-problems-fixes/
It's always nice to have the most recent iOS running on your phone so you can get all the patches put in since the last version but my recommendation is to WAIT until 8.4.1 comes out. There isn't much benefit in 8.4 vs. 8.3 and LOTS of disadvantages and risks.
The new MacBook OS is also a piece of junk (which is why I won't upgrade my personal MacBook to it). Oh, and the new iTunes is crap too as Apple is wanting to push their new music store and making the old iTunes not work.
I see a trend here. Apple has become the new MicroSoft. Now we need a company to come along and operate like Apple use to.
